Muscle Pain Treatment | Muscle Pain Relief

When there is an excessive strain or an injury to a muscle, it leads to muscle pain. It can occur due to some other reasons also. Most muscle pain is due to tension or overuse.Muscle pain is a sign and symptom of many rheumatic conditions including: lupus, mixed connective tissue disease, fibromyalgia, polymyalgia rheumatica, polymyositis, dermatomyositis, andLyme disease.

Muscle pain also can be a sign of conditions affecting your whole body, like some infections (including the flu) and disorders that affect connective tissues throughout the body (such as lupus).

Causes of Muscle Pain:
The most common causes of muscle pain are tension, stress, overuse and minor injuries. This type ofpain is usually localized, affecting just one muscle or part of your body. Systemic muscle pain, which you feel throughout your body, is different. It's more often the result of an infection, an illness such as fibromyalgia or a medication and should be evaluated by your doctor.

Home Remedies for Muscle Pain:

* Do some stretching exercises to relax your muscles and to prevent further soreness.

* Hot soak with Epsom salt is a popular remedy for muscle sprain. Add a cup of Epsom salt (available in stores) to water and lower the affected area into the hot bath. Soak for few minutes and bandage the area after drying.

* Try applying the ice to the affected areas in cycles of 15 minutes. Meaning that you should give the affected area 15 minutes of rest after 15 minutes of ice.

* Resting is another obvious yet very important part of the healing of your muscle. The duration in which you should keep pressure away from your muscle depends on the intensity of the problem. A cramp may only need a few minutes of rest, while a severe strain may require weeks.

* After swelling has been reduced, it can be very beneficial to apply a light and gentle massage to the affected muscles. You may also consider applying heat, or a warm washcloth to the muscle now that the swelling has been reduced.
